Playstyles - The Killer

The Killer is a player whom loves causing mayhem in online environments, whether it be competitive spirit or antagonistic. Leveling and equipment is important to them, but in contrast to the achiever they want the most powerful gear also they can dominate in player vs player combat and best anyone in their path. The killer loves games with open PVP, where they can stalk and kill both lower level and higher level characters, and gain notoriety from other players as being one whom should be watched out for.

In a future release, Elandor Chronicles aims to provide two servers for play. One which has PVP restricted to arenas and similar areas, and another which allows full PVP with no limits. This additional server would cater for killers of two categories, those who may wish to hold law and protect weaker characters, and those whom kill other characters and wish to role-play as a bandit or other similar character.

Killers also enjoy more risky and influential acts such as market control, or the attempt of. This could co-operating with a number of other killers to buy out from players and control a specific useful item; increasing it's selling price back to the community. With less other players with the item, fewer would sell it for cheaper, and due to scarcity it's value would increase. This would also return the killers quite the profit, as well as gaining infamous reputation of attempting to control the market.

In a multiplayer online game, it's been proposed and studied by game researcher Richard Bartle that there are four major character types. These character types define how a player acts and succeeds in a multiplayer game, and what gameplay elements and content are most important to them. These character types include the Achiever, the Explorer, the Socializer, and the Killer. Elandor Chronicles aims to provide a variety of satisfying content for each character type.

Playstyles - The Socializer

The Socializer is a player who enjoys shared online environments, socializing with players and building relationships. They take advantage of the ability to join parties and guilds, and actively participate in different chat channels. Leveling in an online game is usually their least priority, although the socializer often will help newer players by guiding them through an area, or helping them defeat a monster that is out of his/her league.

Elandor Chronicles will cater for Socializers by having a shared world which doesn't have instanced dungeons or zones. Players will always be sharing the road with others, and they often won't be alone when raiding a dungeon or cave. The game will also provide different chat channels such as global, trade, party, guild, local and private, and will allow players to both create and join parties and guilds.

Elandor Chronicle's party system will encourage players to team up in dungeons, or travel together between zones by giving players a small bonus to experience earned. Guilds on the other hand will allow players to be instantly recognized as belonging to a certain group. They will be able to easily meet and obtain help from other members in the guild. The guild founder will also have a number of privileges available to him/her, such as customizing the guild, inviting and dismissing members, and purchasing shared storage and other upgrades.
